A jury on Sept. 15, 2026, convicted 47‑year‑old Ronald Raymond Piper of Butler of two counts of felony aggravated assault against a police officer, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing a police officer during a high‑speed chase, and related misdemeanors including possession of methamphetamine. The charges stem from an October 2025 vehicle pursuit in which troopers say Piper refused to stop, struck spike strips, then turned toward a trooper before crashing and fleeing on foot; video and trooper testimony produced a unanimous guilty verdict and Judge Chase G. McClister revoked Piper’s bond pending sentencing set for Nov. 24, 2026.
