Lower Swatara Police to Join 2026 Teen Seat Belt Enforcement

Lower Swatara Township Police, Department Name and PennDOT will conduct seat belt enforcement during National Teen Driver Safety Week at the Middletown Area School District campus.

On Oct. 8, 2026 the Lower Swatara Township Police Department announced it will join Department Name and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in a statewide Teen Seat Belt Enforcement mobilization during National Teen Driver Safety Week, Oct. 18–24, 2026, with activities concentrated at the Middletown Area School District campus. The effort pairs enforcement and education to boost teen seat belt use — in 2024, 53% of teen drivers of passenger vehicles killed in crashes were unbuckled — and reminds that Pennsylvania’s primary law requires occupants under 18 to wear seat belts; drivers and front-seat passengers over 18 cited for another violation may receive a second ticket if unbuckled.
