Man Arrested After Allegedly Battering Two Nurses at AdventHealth DeLand

A patient at AdventHealth DeLand allegedly harassed and forcefully groped two nurses on July 4; security restrained him and he was arrested and charged following medical clearance.

On July 4, 2026, at about 6:59 p.m., DeLand police responded to AdventHealth DeLand after two nurses reported a patient, 42-year-old Stephen W. Evans, was making inappropriate sexual comments and touching himself while allegedly forcefully groping them. Hospital security restrained Evans until officers arrived; after he was medically cleared he was discharged, arrested and taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail on two counts of battery on specified personnel.
