Man Arrested After Assaulting Two Nurses at AdventHealth DeLand

A patient allegedly sexually harassed and forcefully groped two nurses at AdventHealth DeLand; hospital security restrained him and police arrested him after medical clearance.

On July 4, 2026, at about 6:59 p.m., DeLand police responded to AdventHealth Hospital after two nurses reported that 42-year-old patient Stephen W. Evans was making inappropriate sexual comments and sexually touching himself while forcefully groping them. Hospital security restrained Evans until officers arrived; after he was medically cleared he was discharged from the facility, arrested and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail. Evans is charged with two counts of battery on specified personnel.
