Man Arrested in Grand Junction for Multiple Thefts from Vehicles
Mesa County deputies found stolen items in a suspect’s backpack during an early-morning investigation and charged him with multiple felonies and misdemeanors; recovered property was returned when possible and remaining items booked as evidence.
On July 1, 2026, at 3:20 a.m., Mesa County deputies responded to a report of a person checking vehicle door handles on the 2900 block of Mesa Avenue in Grand Junction and detained a man who initially gave a false name. He was identified as Skyler Kemp, 29, of Rifle; deputies found multiple items belonging to neighborhood residents in his backpack, returned property when possible, and booked remaining items into evidence. Kemp was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including violations of protection orders, criminal possession of financial devices and identification documents, first-degree criminal auto trespass, theft from a motor vehicle, drug possession and paraphernalia, unauthorized use of a financial transaction device, and a fugitive warrant.
