Manheim Borough Police warn of phone scam impersonating officers
Manheim Borough Police warn residents about fraudulent calls in which scammers impersonate officers, spoof the department’s number, and demand money or sensitive information.
The Manheim Borough Police Department issued a community advisory about frequent phone scams where callers use spoofing technology to appear as local police or government agents and pressure victims for money or personal data. Today’s reported incident involved a caller with a Spanish or Indian accent who gave an actual officer’s name and badge number and spoofed the MBPD number; residents are urged not to provide information or payment and to independently verify calls by contacting MBPD at 717-665-2481 or Police Dispatch at 717-664-1180.
