Brandon Tyler Driggers, 29, was arrested July 19 at the Walmart on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston after an off-duty officer and asset protection employees say he concealed merchandise in a backpack and entered a restroom where officers found him holding a glass pipe and pills identified as clonazepam. Police say a crumpled paper with 40 pink pills marked "1/2" and an additional clonazepam pill were recovered; Driggers could not produce a valid prescription. He faces charges of Property Crime Enhancement–Shoplifting, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, and Trespassing After Notice and was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center; records show prior grand larceny and drug-related convictions and a July 2023 trespass notice from the Walmart.
