Missing millionaire Thelma Gaston identified 45 years after body found
Advanced forensic testing — including genetic genealogy, dental records and advanced DNA analysis — confirmed remains found in 1981 belonged to the missing California millionaire.
A missing millionaire has finally been identified as a dead body found 45 years ago.
NBC reports new forensic technology helped confirm the remains of Thelma Jeanette Gaston, a California woman who went missing on June 28, 1981. A "severely decomposed female body” found that same year was re-examined with genetic genealogy, dental records and “advanced forensic DNA testing,” thanks to a private laboratory and a grant obtained by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau.
