Mobile Apps Every Parent Should Know
As students return to school, parents are urged to learn which apps their children use and the safety risks they can pose, including hidden “vault” apps and gaming chat features.
Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department urges parents to take an active role in understanding the apps their children use as students head back to school. Popular platforms — including Roblox, TikTok, Snapchat, Discord, WhatsApp, Wizz, Kik, Telegram, Yubo, MeetMe, Zoosk, Whisper, Reddit, Parler and disguised apps like Best Secret Folder and Calculator% — can include direct messaging, livestreaming, anonymous chats, location sharing and disappearing messages. Parents should know which apps their children use, who they’re talking to, what they’re sharing, and keep an ongoing conversation to set boundaries and improve online safety.
