NC man charged after DoorDash worker scammed out of nearly $300 in Vandergrift
A DoorDash delivery worker says a caller posing as a company employee convinced her to transfer nearly $300 to a Cash App account; investigators traced the account and phone number to a North Carolina man.
Vandergrift Police say a DoorDash delivery worker received a call in January from someone claiming to be a DoorDash employee who told her to move funds from her DoorDash and personal bank accounts to a Cash App account; she later learned the call was not from DoorDash. Records and a search warrant tied the Cash App account and the caller's phone number to Scott Olson of Pikeville, North Carolina. Olson faces charges including unlawful use of a computer/computer crimes, access device fraud, theft and impersonating a public servant; all charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
