NCPD Officers Honored for CSAM Investigation
Four North Charleston Police officers were recognized for their work on a child sexual abuse material (CSAM) investigation that began after a voyeurism complaint.
M.P.O. Clifford Doorley, P.F.C. Jenna Helberg, P.F.C. Lucas Searles and Patrolman Carlton Bing received Certificates of Recognition for June for their work on a child sexual abuse material investigation. On May 19, P.F.C. Bing contacted a suspect after a voyeurism complaint; with consent to search the suspect’s phone investigators found media files that a forensic exam later identified as 56 videos depicting minors, including prepubescent children, in sexually explicit conduct. S.O.I.U. expanded the probe, coordinated with other units and outside agencies, consulted prosecutors and a judge, arrested the defendant at his workplace on June 25 and seized additional electronic devices; the investigation is ongoing.
