An Upstate New York school district is changing its policy after a student was suspended for bringing a cup of coffee to class.

WWNY reports the Beaver River Central School District in Castorland, N.Y., decided Monday to amend a rule banning outside food and drinks in classrooms after a public hearing. Teachers can now decide on a case-by-case basis whether to allow outside food and drinks, the BRCSD school board said.
