Person shot at Austell home; one detained, two others held
A man was found with gunshot injuries in the foyer of a Brightmore Drive home; officers detained him and two women and discovered firearms and drugs downstairs.
On February 1, 2026, at about 6:34 a.m., officers responded to a person-shot call at 4040 Brightmore Dr in Austell, Cobb County, and found a male subject with visible injuries in the foyer and a black handgun nearby. The man dropped the handgun when ordered, and he and two women were detained after additional officers cleared the residence, where mature marijuana plants, shell casings and marijuana leaves were located. The gunshot victim was treated by Austell Fire and Puckett EMS, and the scene was secured before the case was turned over to Austell CIU and Cobb County Police Crimes Against Persons.
