Person Shot at Austell Home; Suspect Detained, Drugs and Shell Casings Recovered
Officers found a male gunshot victim at a Brightmore Drive residence on Feb. 1; a handgun, marijuana plants and shell casings were recovered and the case was referred to Austell CIU and Cobb County Crimes Against Persons.
On Feb. 1, 2026, at approximately 6:34 a.m., officers responded to a person-shot call at 4040 Brightmore Dr., Austell, and found a male lying in the foyer with visible injuries and a black handgun nearby that he dropped when instructed. The male, who was coming from the downstairs area, and two female subjects were detained; officers cleared the residence and recovered several mature marijuana plants, marijuana leaves and shell casings. The gunshot victim was treated by Austell Fire and Puckett EMS, and the investigation was turned over to Austell CIU and Cobb County Police Crimes Against Persons.
