Phoebe Ministries CEO: Chestnut Ridge thriving after two years in Emmaus
Residents cite organic food, more than 200 monthly activities and a supportive community at the 126‑unit Chestnut Ridge campus in Emmaus.
A Conversation With: Scott Stevenson, CEO of Phoebe Ministries
LVB: Chestnut Ridge at Rodale is now open in Emmaus. How is everything going?
Stevenson: Chestnut Ridge is really doing great. Recently we celebrated CHEERS to 2 Years and I was thrilled to hear how happy our residents are. Over and over again, residents shared their enthusiasm for the outstanding organic food, fun and engaging activities and most of all their love for the supportive community that has developed over time. We have 126 apartments with a growing waiting list.
LVB: What are some of the things that set Chestnut Ridge apart from other senior living?
Stevenson: Chestnut Ridge is a special community. I am proud to say that the resort like property hosts an array of amenities-a pool, salon, game room, a bar and restaurant serving specialty happy hours and weekly theme nights. The community life folks offer over 200 activities a month from yoga, gardening, line dancing, guest speakers, photography clubs – the list is endless.
In addition to the focus on wellness and active lifestyle, Chestnut Ridge has a chaplain on staff who provides opportunities for residents to receive support and connect spiritually.
Our mission at Phoebe is to enrich the lives of seniors- Chestnut Ridge is top notch in terms of offering folks many ways to connect and enrich their lives to truly live fully.
LVB: It was a large endeavor to get Chestnut Ridge from concept to reality. What’s the best part about seeing everything in action?
Stevenson: The best part is the moment the building becomes a community. When a new facility opens it’s filled with beautiful spaces, the architecture, the furnishings and design, it is fun to watch it all come together.
But the real magic is seeing hundreds of people enjoying the space. Seeing people attending events, playing games, dancing and eating dinner together -that’s when our mission is accomplished. It’s not the building, however specular, it’s the people who make the building a home!
LVB: What’s next for the campus?
Stevenson: We are exploring opportunities to serve even more seniors in this special community. One area we’re evaluating is potential expansion within our existing daycare building, possibly adding independent living or personal care, whichever option best meets the needs we’re seeing in the community.
Our goal is always to be responsive and intentional, ensuring that any growth helps more seniors remain active, connected, and supported so they can continue to live fully.
