Phone scam impersonates Chambersburg Police

On 7/23/26 the Chambersburg Police Department warned that individuals received calls from a person identifying as a CPD officer; the suspect spoofed the CPD phone number and demanded money to pay bond, threatening arrest if victims did not comply and instructing them not to speak to anyone. Do not provide payment or transfer funds over the phone — hang up immediately and contact your local law enforcement agency to report the incident.
