A resident reported multiple calls Aug. 25, 2026 from a man claiming to be an FBI agent who said her bank account was being used to buy bomb‑making materials and urged her to withdraw money; officers recorded the call after the victim went to police.
On August 25, 2026 an Old Lycoming resident received multiple calls from a man claiming to be an FBI agent who alleged her bank account was being used to purchase bomb‑making materials and ordered her to withdraw money. The caller sent a fake photo of federal credentials and demanded she keep the line open; the victim went to the Lycoming Regional Police, who recorded the call with her permission and the caller disconnected when officers identified themselves. Police reiterate that federal agencies will never tell you to withdraw funds, keep a phone line open, or send credentials by text, and advise hanging up, contacting local police, reporting to ic3.gov, notifying your bank, and sharing the warning with vulnerable family members.
