Police Seek Leads in Series of Toyota Prius Catalytic Converter Thefts

Investigators say four overnight catalytic converter thefts targeting Toyota Prius vehicles were reported in New Cumberland Borough on July 23, 2026; thieves used jacks and battery-powered cutting tools to remove converters in seconds. Similar incidents include a June 16 theft in Lower Allen Township and a July 29 Paxtang Borough theft where suspects fled in a black 2014–2017 Infiniti Q50 with a stolen Pennsylvania plate; Dauphin County officers attempted a stop but the suspects escaped. Authorities believe the incidents may be connected and ask anyone with surveillance footage or information to contact the New Cumberland Borough Police Department.
