Reading man arrested at Saucon Square on Berks County warrant

Police arrested 40-year-old Matthew Schirmer of Reading at the Dollar Tree in Saucon Square on July 26 on a Berks County detainer for fraud and theft-related charges.

On Sunday, July 26, 2026 at approximately 11:25 a.m., police took 40-year-old Matthew Schirmer of Reading into custody near the Dollar Tree at the Saucon Square shopping center. Schirmer was wanted by the Muhlenberg Township Police Department on charges including Access Device Fraud (F3), Receiving Stolen Property (M1) and Theft of Property Lost, Mislaid or Delivered by Mistake (M2). He was transported to Northampton County Prison on a Berks County detainer.
