Remembering Cumberland County’s 2nd‑degree murder victims
The Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office has published a review of local second-degree murder convictions and the victims affected as Pennsylvania implements the Supreme Court’s Commonwealth v. Lee decision.
With the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s 120‑day deadline in Commonwealth v. Lee approaching, the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing convictions for second‑degree murder and publishing details to highlight the victims, families and communities affected. Families who were told life sentences meant no parole now face the prospect of resentencing, and the DA’s office says reopening these cases has resurfaced deep pain. The notice lists affected cases and victims, including Kathy Grove, Melissa “Missy” Conrad, Leslie White, Linda Ness and Todd Getgen.
