Remount Road pursuit ends with two arrests; passenger cited for open container
A traffic stop near Kapstone Park on Remount Road led to a brief 1.5-mile police pursuit, open alcohol containers and drug-related charges.
North Charleston officers conducting proactive patrols near Kapstone Park around 4:30 p.m. observed a vehicle driving across grass, speeding and running a stop sign before failing to stop for blue lights and sirens; the car stopped about 1.5 miles later in the parking lot at 1444 Remount Road, where officers found several open beer containers. Police discovered about one gram of a white powder on 22-year-old Carillo Mazariegos Wilder Tiburcio of Ladson that field-tested presumptive positive for cocaine and fentanyl; Tiburcio was charged with failure to stop and multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute, including in proximity to a school or park. Passenger 25-year-old Kender Saucedo Garcia was charged with open container of beer and both men were taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
