Route 31 closed for hours after vehicle damages nuclear density gauge

Route 31 in Hunterdon County was closed for several hours Wednesday after a vehicle struck a nuclear density gauge, a device commonly used to test soil and asphalt during construction projects, authorities said.
Officials said the incident occurred when a vehicle ran over the gauge that was being used near the roadway in Glen Gardner, damaging the equipment.
