Unseasonably hot mid-April temperatures in 2026 brought butterflies, wildflowers and a ruby-throated hummingbird sighted nearly two weeks ahead of schedule.
It was so hot this past week that it felt more like mid-July than mid-April. The heat is really pushing plants to put out leaves or flowers, but flowers don’t stay pretty for long when it’s this hot.
