Scam Alert: Callers Impersonating York County Deputies

Scammers are impersonating York County Sheriff’s Office deputies—spoofing local caller IDs, using real officer names, and sometimes employing AI voice cloning—to claim missed jury duty, active warrants, or civil processing fees and demand payment through Kiosk, Bitcoin, wire transfers, Western Union, gift cards, Venmo or Cash App. The York County Regional Police Department warns that law enforcement will never call to demand money or negotiate warrants by phone; hang up, do not provide personal details or payment, and remain vigilant as perpetrators may operate in the U.S. or abroad.
