Scottdale man arrested after 14-mile high-speed motorcycle pursuit
A Scottdale man led Pennsylvania State Police on a 14-mile motorcycle pursuit the night of July 4, 2026, at speeds exceeding 100 mph before crashing into a ditch.
Pennsylvania State Police say they tried to stop a motorcycle just after midnight on July 4, 2026, after noticing its taillight was out and it had no registration plate; the rider fled at high speed. The pursuit traveled roughly 14 miles through Ruffs Dale, New Stanton, along I-70 and Route 119 into Youngwood, reaching over 100 mph, and ended when the motorcycle hit a ditch on Reservoir Road. Troopers identified the rider as 21-year-old Nicholaus Ohler of Scottdale, who allegedly called the chase "fun" and said being chased "made his day"; he faces charges including fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and summary citations such as driving without a license.
