State police say troopers on patrol in East Huntingdon Township attempted to stop a motorcycle shortly after midnight on July 4, 2026 after observing no taillight and no registration plate. The rider, later identified as Nicholaus Ohler, 21, fled at high speed along Route 981, Interstate 70 and Route 119—reaching over 100 mph—before the pursuit ended when his motorcycle struck a ditch on Reservoir Road. Ohler faces charges including fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, resisting arrest and several summary citations, including driving without a license; all charges are accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
