September Is Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month — Resources and Cortez Events
Cortez Police mark September as Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month, highlight 988 crisis resources and promote two RISE Southwest community events Sept. 11–12.
The Cortez Police Department recognizes September as Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month and reminds residents that help is available via the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline—dial, text or chat 988 (resources at 988lifeline.org); call or text 911 for emergencies. The department is supporting two RISE Southwest events: a rock painting night at ZU Gallery (48 West Main St., Cortez) on Sept. 11 from 6–9 p.m., and the 5th Annual RISE Southwest Walk at Montezuma Park on Sept. 12, offering free breakfast and coffee, resource tables, music and speakers, crafts, sidewalk chalk messages, bead necklaces, and a ribbon arch honoring those affected by suicide.
