South Lebanon Township to Join Statewide Seatbelt and Child-Seat Enforcement
Police will check seat belt use and proper installation of child safety seats during an increased roadway presence in the township.
South Lebanon Township Police will participate in a statewide enforcement detail focusing on seat belt and child seat violations, with officers checking that child seats are used and anchored properly and an increased police presence on local roadways. The NHTSA reminds caregivers that children are safest when correctly buckled in the right seat for their age and size, noting that 46% of car seats are misused and that in 2024 an average of two children 14 and under were killed and 349 injured daily in passenger vehicle crashes. NHTSA guidance stresses keeping children in rear-facing, forward-facing, or booster seats until they outgrow height and weight limits, using the back seat for those under 13, and consulting certified Child Passenger Safety technicians and resources at NHTSA.gov/TheRightSeat.
