Stay Safe in the Extreme Heat!
High temperatures and humidity can be dangerous — follow these essential safety tips to protect yourself, loved ones, and pets.
Strasburg Borough Police Department warns that high heat and humidity can be dangerous and offers essential precautions: stay hydrated, wear lightweight light-colored clothing, avoid strenuous outdoor activity between 10 AM and 4 PM, spend time in air-conditioned or shaded areas, never leave people or pets in a closed vehicle, and check on children, older adults, and neighbors without AC. Know the warning signs: heat exhaustion includes heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, and weakness; heat stroke causes confusion, loss of consciousness, hot/dry skin, and a rapid pulse — call 911 immediately for heat stroke.
