Steelton man charged after falsely reporting vehicle stolen
Surveillance showed the complainant drove and parked the vehicle he reported stolen, police say.
On the evening of July 8, 2026, Steelton Borough officers responded to the 100 block of South Front Street after Allen Kelly, 59, reported a vehicle stolen. Surveillance footage and Kelly’s own admission showed he had driven and parked the vehicle himself; he was charged with False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities. Officers also found Kelly was operating the vehicle with driving privileges suspended for a DUI-related offense; he was taken into custody and detained on a probation violation. As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
