A new study suggests that rural communities may be able to ease partisan hostility not through campaign messaging or political debate, but by getting neighbors to work together on practical local projects. The study examined Community Works, a program of the Rural Urban Bridge Initiative, and found that counties with chapters saw smaller increases in hostility toward people from the opposing political party than similar counties without the program.
