The Summit Police Department will conduct additional traffic enforcement from November 3 through November 19, 2026, to help reduce crashes and save lives. The effort is supported by a federal fiscal year 2027 Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) grant administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and will focus on speeding, seatbelt violations, distracted driving, DUI and Scott’s Law. The FY27 STEP grant runs Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027, and the department will carry out further enforcement during higher-risk periods throughout the grant year.
