Swatara Police Join Statewide Aggressive-Driving Enforcement July 6–Sept. 5
Swatara Township Police will join Pennsylvania State Police and about 300 municipal agencies in a targeted enforcement wave from July 6–Sept. 5 to reduce aggressive-driving crashes, injuries and deaths.
From July 6 through September 5, Swatara Township Police will participate with the Pennsylvania State Police and roughly 300 municipal agencies in a targeted aggressive-driving enforcement wave aimed at reducing crashes, injuries and deaths. The campaign — funded by PennDOT using federal NHTSA funds — will focus on heavy-truck violations, pedestrian safety, red light running, speeding, tailgating and other unsafe behaviors; any aggressive driver stopped will receive a ticket. Officials note that speeding is a form of aggressive driving, accounts for more than one-quarter of all traffic-related fatalities nationally, and increases stopping distances and the risk of collisions.
