On June 27, 2026 at 4:49 p.m., Lititz Borough police stopped a vehicle for expired inspection stickers and say driver Tabitha J. Chappel, 39, showed signs of impairment including slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes. Field sobriety tests allegedly showed validated clues of impairment, and a blood sample taken at a hospital tested positive for a combination of prescription medications. Chappel has been summoned to District Court for a preliminary arraignment and hearing on one misdemeanor DUI controlled substance charge and two summary traffic offenses; she is presumed innocent.
