On July 1, 2026, Lower Burrell police arrested 39-year-old Brian Greenwald of Tarentum after a license-plate reader alerted officers to a vehicle wanted by a neighboring department, prompting a pursuit through Westmoreland and Allegheny counties. Officers found the vehicle in a Denny’s parking lot; the driver fled at speeds up to 70 mph before stop strips stopped the car and Greenwald ran on foot, ignored commands, was tased and taken into custody while a passenger was uninjured. He faces charges including fleeing and eluding, flight to avoid apprehension, evading arrest, reckless endangering and several summary citations including driving on a suspended license; all charges are accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
