Tornado warning active for Allegheny, Westmoreland counties — move to nearest shelter
The National Weather Service issued the warning at midnight for Allegheny and Westmoreland counties, in effect until 12:15 a.m.; residents should move to the nearest shelter.
A tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at midnight in effect until 12:15 a.m. for Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.
"At midnight, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Duquesne, or over McKeesport, moving east at 45 mph," describes the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."
