Tornado warning issued for Lawrence and Mercer counties — seek shelter

National Weather Service issued the warning at 6:43 p.m.; flying debris and severe damage possible, especially to mobile homes.

A tornado warning was released by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 6:43 p.m. in effect until 7:15 p.m. for Lawrence and Mercer counties.

"At 6:43 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 5 miles northwest of Sharon, moving southeast at 50 mph," says the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."
