Trainer Police urge safe celebrations for 250th Independence Day

As the nation marks 250 years of independence, the Trainer Borough Police Department urges residents to celebrate responsibly and help keep the community safe. Officers emphasize ‘Drive sober’ practices and outline Pennsylvania fireworks rules — consumer fireworks are legal for those 18 and older but may not be used within 150 feet of an occupied structure, while impaired, without property owner permission, from or within vehicles or buildings, or aimed at people or structures — and note Borough Ordinance No. 23-783 bans discharge on public streets and sidewalks. The department also offers safety tips: keep children and pets at a safe distance, have water nearby, never relight malfunctioning fireworks, soak used fireworks before disposing, and be respectful of neighbors, veterans and pets.
