Two Pianos
A prodigal pianist returns to Lyon for concerts with his former mentor, but a chance encounter unsettles his life and rekindles past relationships.
After years of self-imposed exile teaching and performing in Japan, pianist Mathias (François Civil) returns to France at the invitation of his former mentor Eléna (Charlotte Rampling) to perform a series of concerts in Lyon. A sudden encounter with a child who resembles him throws Mathias into turmoil, threatening to derail him and drawing him back to his first love, Claude (Nadia Tereszkiewicz). Director Arnaud Desplechin revisits themes of charged homecomings and unexpected reunions in this sensual, Hitchcockian melodrama that features a notable turn from Rampling.
