On July 9, 2026, Mesa County deputies arrested 42-year-old Deborah Wheeler in Grand Junction after an investigation into an alleged trespass, vehicle damage and a reported domestic dispute; she was booked on third-degree assault, second-degree criminal tampering, criminal mischief (under $300) and domestic violence. That evening deputies arrested 22-year-old Shawn M. Russell Jr. in Loma on charges including second-degree assault by strangulation (Felony 4), two counts of third-degree assault and domestic violence; both were booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility and deputies say the incidents are unrelated and pose no public threat.
