Upland Police Honor Survivors, Remember Those Lost During Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Upland Borough Police wear pink ribbons this October, sharing an officer’s mother’s cancer journey and honoring Sister Veronica Gavin while urging screenings and early detection.
The Upland Borough Police Department stands in solidarity with breast cancer patients and survivors, sharing the story of an officer’s mother who survived thyroid cancer (2023) and a brain aneurysm (2024) and was diagnosed with stage 1A breast cancer in March 2026; after four rounds of chemotherapy she is now undergoing radiation. The department also remembered Sister Veronica Gavin, R.S.M., who died of breast cancer in 2018, and officers will wear pink ribbons to promote screenings, early detection and community support.
