Upper Chichester sewer smoke testing underway
Vortex is conducting non‑toxic smoke testing of the sewer system in parts of Upper Chichester to find leaks; residents may see smoke coming from vents or manholes.
Vortex is performing smoke testing of the sewer system in parts of Upper Chichester Township using a Hurco Technologies Pipeline Smoke Tester and laboratory‑tested, non‑toxic LiquiSmoke; the Police Department has received calls about visible smoke that may appear at sewer vents, manholes, lawns or other outdoor areas. If smoke enters a home or business it may indicate an open cleanout cap, unvented drain or other plumbing defect that could allow sewer gases in—have plumbing inspected and repaired. Testing schedule: this week — Twin Oaks section; next week — area behind McDonald’s off Market Street; following week — Johnson Avenue area. Call 911 if you see smoke and are unsure whether it’s related to testing or believe there is an actual fire or emergency.
