Warm Springs residents endure as Bench Fire rages
Residents of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation are coping with the Bench Fire amid remote, rugged conditions and a sense of loss over burning land.
Twenty-five miles up a winding, bumpy, access road off Tenino Road on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, there are no street names, no signs, no cell service — just towering ponderosa pines, the occasional loose horse or cow and miles of dirt road.
