Warrington Township Awarded $250,000 Grant to Modernize Police and Fire Technology

A $250,000 grant will help Warrington replace aging Motorola radios, body-worn cameras and in-car video systems after the vendor announced end-of-support, reducing costs to taxpayers and modernizing emergency communications.

In 2025 Motorola notified Warrington Police that it would stop supporting the department’s aging portable radios and that parts for existing body-worn cameras would become limited, while in-car systems had not been updated since 2013. In mid-2025 Motorola proposed a modernization package, and the township secured a $250,000 grant—helped by Representative Brian Munroe’s advocacy and an application prepared by Brittney Heller, Executive Assistant to Chief Daniel J. Friel—to fund new portable radios, individual body cameras for officers and updated in-car camera systems. The funding reduces the financial impact on taxpayers and positions Warrington’s police and fire personnel to meet operational and technological needs for years to come.
