Former police officer and Village Supermarkets security director who loved saltwater fishing and taught skiing.

Wayne Jackson Horner (1953 – 2026)

Wayne Jackson Horner, 73, of Coopersburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026. Born in Summit, N.J., on Jan. 12, 1953, he was the son of the late Burtis and Georgianna (Landers) Horner. Following his years as a police officer, Wayne worked for many years as the Director of Security for Village Supermarkets. Outside of his career, he had a deep passion for saltwater fishing and spent his winters as a ski instructor. He also enjoyed the outdoors and going on long walks.

SURVIVORS

He is survived by his sons: Benjamin M. Horner and his wife Nicole of Coopersburg, and Philip E. Horner and his wife Lena of Shallotte, N.C.; his siblings: Susan Reinman of Melbourne, Fla., Burtis Horner and his wife Marcia of Long Valley, N.J., and Georgianna Catlett and her husband Glenn of Hodgenville, Ky.; and his grandchildren: Jayson, Brantley and Brooke Horner, and one expected granddaughter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to a visitation with the Horner Family from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The visitation period will be followed by a service at 11 a.m. A funeral repast will be held after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Good Jakes Restaurant, 13 S. Main St., Coopersburg.
