Welcoming Tar Beach with dance at Allentown Art Museum
Drop-in dance performances and interactive workshops bring Faith Ringgold’s Tar Beach to life at the Allentown Art Museum on Saturday, February 28.
Celebrate the opening days of Faith Ringgold’s story quilt Tar Beach by participating in a joyful multisensory program that brings this iconic work to life through story and movement. On Saturday, February 28, at 11:30 a.m. and then again at noon, there will be dance performances followed by short interactive workshops when audience members will be encouraged to join in. No need to RSVP, just drop in!
Dancer Hanajah White will present an interpretive dance inspired by Ringgold’s beloved children’s book Tar Beach while PRICEarts‘s Noel Price-Bracey reads from the book. This experience invites audiences of all ages to reflect on themes of imagination, freedom, and self-determination that are central to Ringgold’s work.
Admission to the Museum and the performances are free.
