Williamsport Open Container Ordinance
City ordinance bans possession or consumption of alcohol in open containers on public ways and certain private parking areas; penalties include fines up to $600 or up to 30 days in jail.
Williamsport bans transporting, possessing or consuming beer, wine or other alcoholic beverages in open containers on streets, sidewalks, alleys, public ways and in parking areas of private shopping centers under police jurisdiction. Possession or consumption on another person’s property is allowed only for guests, licensees, or invitees; violations can result in fines up to $600 or imprisonment up to 30 days, per the Penn College Police Department.
