On July 24, 2026, Penn Township officers responded to Berlin Road near Chestnut Lane after a passerby found Melissa Davis, 40, unresponsive in the middle of the road on a poorly lit blind curve. Police reported signs of heavy intoxication, a cup with a strong odor of alcohol, and Davis admitted to drinking whiskey and ingesting six hydrocodone pills and at least eight Xanex pills; she was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Officers also discovered two unattended children, ages 11 and 2, at her residence; Davis faces charges of endangering the welfare of children, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct (charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty).
