Steve Wheeler of the Pennsylvania Auto Theft Prevention Authority says auto theft also raises community costs; nearly half of stolen vehicles in Pennsylvania were left unlocked, and simple steps like locking doors, taking keys, hiding valuables, parking in well-lit visible areas, never leaving a running vehicle unattended, and reporting suspicious activity can reduce risk.
