On July 31, 2026, at about 1:17 a.m., officers attempted a traffic stop at North Walnut Street and Brandy Lane; the vehicle fled, crashed into a culvert behind residences on Golden Court in Upper Allen Township, and the 14-year-old driver was taken into custody and transported to a hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries. The vehicle was later determined to have been stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Madison Drive where it had been left unlocked with the keys inside; the front-seat passenger fled the scene and remains unidentified. The arrest followed charges to be filed with Cumberland County Juvenile Probation, the juvenile was released to his parents, and investigators — assisted by Upper Allen Township Police, Pennsylvania State Police and Hampden Township EMS — ask anyone with information about the passenger to contact the Mechanicsburg Police Department.
